Julie Lopez began her government career in 1987 with the Small Business Administration in the Procurement Assistance division of the Denver Regional office. She learned all about the different aspects of the procurement process. She started her career as a GS1/1. With main duties of typing up hand-written reports from the COC (Certificate of Competency) Specialist, as well as the Size Determination Specialist. In 1990, the Denver Regional office was downsized, and Lopez was relocated to the OFO (Office of Financial Operations) in the U.S. Customs House. There, she served under the OFO Director where she learned a myriad of skills including managing GSA contracts for facilities, requisitioning orders for the transfer of existing or new phone lines, and making travel arrangements for the OFO Director. In 1995 she transferred to the Computer Support division where she learned the basics of Local Area Network Administration. In 1997, she accepted a position within the payments section of the Administrative Accounting branch where she audited travel vouchers and commercial invoices for payment. In 2000, she transferred to the Denver Administrative Help Desk. She was at the Denver Help Desk assisting SBA employees with travel issues, as well as assisting vendors with payment issues for eighteen years. In 2018, she relocated to the beautiful state of Louisiana, and accepted a position as a Lender Relations Specialist in the Louisiana District Office.
