Position Description
JOB SUMMARY: Analyzes and screens all preliminary loan requests in one or more of the following areas: consumer, auto, home improvement, mobile home loans, mortgage loans, open-end credit requests, overdrafts, and lines of credit for borrowers. Originates consumer loans by interviewing consumer loan applicants, ordering credit reports, notifying applicant of decision, etc. May recommend terms of loans, as allowed by the financial institution, with limited credit authority. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Solicits and interviews applicant(s) to initiate loan application and guide the borrower(s) on product compatibility. Populates consumer credit reports to determine creditworthiness. Requests and collects required information from borrowers, to complete the underwriting package for review. Determines approval, denial or counteroffer loan decision based on lending authority, or seeks higher authority. Communicates loan decision to applicant(s) and corresponds any credit recommendations. Follows all regulatory guidelines to complete the loan package, if the loan is denied/withdrawn. Corresponds with customers, applicants, or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information. Completes and submits package for processing, review, and printing of documents. Adheres to all lending policies and procedures. Coordinates communications with various outside parties, such as attorneys and title companies, to properly review and prepare loan documents for closing transactions. Maintains communications and guidance with existing customers in current loan portfolio. Prepares draw requests on lines of credit for customers. Assists customers with extensions and/or renewals. Assists customers with preparing personal financial statements. Completes functions in past due, non-accruals and NSF functions (daily and bi-weekly). Reviews all laws and regulatory guidelines to stay abreast of changes. Knowledge of community landscape to promote and develop lending opportunities. Participates in business development activities, such as customer calls on prospects and or membership in community/civic organizations, to develop new business or maintain existing business. Completes other loan related duties as assigned, such as commercial loan application assistance and requesting tax documents and personal financial statements from existing customers. Performs other duties as requested. Follows all bank policies and procedures. Basic Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or related field and completion of credit training program. Minimal three years’ experience in a financial institution or loan setting preferred. Good understanding and knowledge of lending products and services. Good cross-selling and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong networking capabilities. Laser-Pro proficiency preferred.
