Funderburk

There are many accomplished bankers throughout the state of Louisiana. That includes Fonda Funderburk, who has given four decades of service to the Bank of Zachary’s four constituent groups: customers, employees, shareholders and community.

Fonda began her career in 1982 as a teller at Bank of Zachary. She has worked her way through many departments of the bank and currently serves as a senior vice president with responsibility for retail operations at all locations.

I met Fonda 10 years ago, and she has helped mold me into the person that I am today. When I began my career at Bank of Zachary, little did I know what impact she would have on me as an employee—much less as an individual. With a “team first” mentality, Fonda has mentored hundreds of bankers throughout her career. Many of her co-workers and individuals she’s had a major influence on can be found throughout the bank in various departments.

As a leader and manager, she understands the capabilities of her team members and helps them realize their full potential. A true community banker, Fonda is very active in several events including Relay for Life, First Baptist Church of St. Francisville, the Regional Arts Council of Zachary Fall Art Crawl, the Revelliers Club and numerous Zachary Chamber of Commerce events.

During my career in banking, I have yet to meet anyone with the dedication to employee development, teamwork and giving back more than she does. Fonda is the epitome of a selfless banker and is a friend and mentor to me and many within the bank.

Fonda is a native of Zachary and a resident of St. Francisville. Her husband, Darren, is a retired firefighter. They have two children and two grandchildren.

After 36 years in banking, all spent at Bank of Zachary, Fonda will be retiring at the end of the year. She is a perfect example of dedication to customer service, a devotion to her profession and a genuine affection for her fellow employees.

I wish Fonda and her family the best in her retirement years. She will always be remembered as a major contributor to the continued success of community banking and to the Bank of Zachary.
