Whitney Bank Employees Taught JA in a Day to 3rd Graders

Five Whitney Bank employees recently taught JA in a Day to 3rd graders at Nelson Elementary School in Lake Charles, including (above, standing) Stephen David, Jr. JA in a Day is a program that aims to connect schools with a local business volunteers to teach K-12th grade students about entrepreneurship, workforce readiness and financial literacy.

Metairie Bank & Trust Announces Bonus Payment & Wage Increase
Metairie Bank and Trust has announced that its Board of Directors approved a cash bonus of $1,000 for all of its 120 employees and an increase in its minimum wage for hourly employees to $12 an hour. Ron Samford, president and chief executive officer of Metairie Bank, noted that “The recent enactment of Pres. Trump’s tax reform bill will provide a substantial benefit to the bank, through significantly lower corporate income tax rates. We will invest some of those savings in our workforce through these actions, and will also look to increase our commitment to community enrichment efforts.”
BancorpSouth Completes Acquisition of OIB
BancorpSouth Bank welcomed Ouachita Independent Bank to its eight-state company. Effective January 15, 2018, BancorpSouth completed the merger with the parent company of OIB, Ouachita Bancshares Corp., in Monroe.
Five Banks United as One
Louisiana Community Bancorp has announced that its five subsidiary banks have officially united and are now Pedestal Bank. The existing charters of the Louisiana-based banks (City Savings Bank, Coastal Commerce Bank, Kaplan State Bank, Teche Bank and Trust and Tri-Parish Bank) have combined into one charter with a new bank name. The newly named Pedestal Bank is under the same ownership with same local management team and board of directors. With approximately $1.2 billion in assets, Pedestal Bank becomes one of the 10 largest banks rooted in Louisiana. The bank’s expanded network will offer 24 locations serving 11 parishes.
