This webinar is an introduction into how the technologies underlying money and payment systems are evolving rapidly as embodied by the rise of Stablecoins -- cryptocurrencies with values tied to fiat currencies or other assets, and CBDCs – Central Bank Digital Currencies.


Dr. Rajesh Narayanan 
is the Hermann Moyse/LSU Professor of Finance, and the Chair of the Department of Finance in the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University. His academic research focuses broadly on issues related to banking and financial markets. His recent research is on FinTech and Cryptocurrencies.  His research has been published articles in leading academic journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Money Credit and Banking. He has made numerous research presentations at national and internal conferences and universities. His interviews and commentary have been featured in national media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, CNN/Money, Bloomberg, Fortune as well as in regional and local media outlets such the Times Picayune, The Advocate, Baton Rouge Business report, WBRZ-TV, and WWL-Radio. Dr. Narayanan has mentored doctoral students, many of whom are in tenured faculty positions, organized and led international consulting projects for numerous MBA and MS students who have gone to successful careers in industry, and directed undergraduate honors students who have won national thesis awards. He has delivered lectures to and conducted seminars on various topics for executives and technocrats in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, India, Malaysia and South Africa.Dr. Narayanan received his Ph.D. in Finance from Florida State University and has served on the faculties of University of Georgia, Ohio University and Concordia University.  He also worked as a research associate at the Federal Reserve.
