Free Market Capitalism: A Cure for what Ails

Capitalism and free markets are the greatest invention of man. More good has resulted for more people as a result of the freedom of actions by people making individual decisions for their own betterment than any other idea in history. I don’t have proof of this exactly, other than what I see with my own eyes. A Louisiana banker who traveled to Cuba this year told me if I go, bring my own toilet paper. Enough said.

For the first time in a long time, bankers are genuinely hopeful and expectant that banking policy in D.C., will change for the better in 2017. I believe it will change for the better, and not only banking, but the general direction that is being communicated by the new Congress and President is one of getting back to creating jobs and expanding the economy. A pro-growth tax code, sensible regulations on energy, labor and the environment all contribute to giving people more freedom to act and create. This is what Americans do. Always have, as good as anyone ever. The unleashing of American creativity will help more people achieve success than any federal program.

The LBA and Louisiana bankers will be in Washington, D.C., early next year meeting with our three new Members of Congress: Sen. John Kennedy, Congressman Clay Higgins of St. Landry parish and Congressman Mike Johnson of Bossier City. I expect these three, as well as our incumbent congressmen, will be eager to move the country in the direction of freedom and free market capitalism. Please be a part of our work next year to get this done.
